A RETURN TO
TRIBAL HOMELAND
IN 1961, THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ILLEGALLY TERMINATED LYTTON RANCHERIA, LEAVING TRIBAL MEMBERS HOMELESS AND WITHOUT ANY FINANCIAL SECURITY. THIRTY YEARS LATER, TRIBAL STATUS WAS RESTORED TO LYTTON, AND THE TRIBE BEGAN THE JOURNEY TO ECONOMIC SELF SUFFICIENCY AND SECURING A PERMANENT HOMELAND FOR TRIBAL MEMBERS.
Tribal History
The Lytton Band of Pomo Indians has always called Sonoma County home.​ Tribal members farmed & ranched their lands for decades.
Project Details
After purchasing land west of the Town of Windsor, Lytton began the process of securing a tribal homeland for members.
Project Process
Over the years, Lytton has reached out to governing bodies to establish a mutually beneficial inter-government relationship.
